29 + 4 Weeks
12/4/24
One thing I haven’t mentioned recently was my blood pressures. About half way through my hospital stay I was considered to have hypertension. The doctors had continued to monitor my blood pressures but they were inconsistently high so they hadn’t been overly concerned in the grand scheme of things. Wednesday came around and our blood tests had come back negative. The doctors were concerned baby was bleeding, and this caused their blood loss/anemia. But the blood tests did not show any indication of fetal blood in my system so they did not think a transfusion was needed.
Additionally, I forgot to mention that although they recommended the second round of steroids, I opted out because I wanted to wait a bit closer to possibly having baby before taking the final round we could have. So at our Wednesday appointment we were just going to see how the dopplers looked and if baby seemed in distress at all.
The NST looked great and through all of this I was still feeling totally fine. My blood pressure was a bit higher at this appointment and the doctors had a long conversation about being admitted back into the hospital. They said they had their big team meeting on Thursday morning and they were going to discuss my case and see what the overall opinion was of me continuing to monitor from home. Our doctor informed us that with the dopplers and lack of good blood flow and nutrients reaching the baby, they would not let me go past 32 weeks. At leaving the appointment on Wednesday, I was assuming I would maybe make it through the weekend before needing to go back to the hospital, and baby would be here within a few more weeks. So we started to plan, but didn’t get nearly as far as we though we would…
